FEAR O’ SHE gathers a constellation of emerging and established improvisers around Tancrède's compositions and concepts.


The music merges contemporary structures, avant-garde rhythms and forms with spontaneous gestures, intuition and initiative.​


We aim to take a holistic approach to the music where material is brought forth as a laboratory to explore our individualities within the collective.


For us, performed music is to be projected fiercely and with unyielding commitment, hence the notion of ‘ritual’ in which FEAR O' SHE wish to throw themselves along with their audience; delving further into the devotional intensity of repetitive motions, discovering and exploring and ways of interlacing composing with improvising.


Although a substantial amount of time is spent scripting scores and creating parameters of execution and interplay, the collective will always be the prism through which this artistic vision unfolds.

FEAR O`SHE EIN QUINTETT VON TANCRÈDE D. KUMMER


"Die Formation Fear O´She ist ein Quintett um den französischen Schlagzeuger Tancréde D. Kummer. Die Musik für das Quintett hat Tancréde D. Kummer geschrieben. Ein Komponist, der in unterschiedlichen Bereichen musikalische Erfahrungen gesammelt hat, vom Duo mit Klavier und Schlagzeug mit einer Bearbeitung der Goldberg Variationen von Bach bis zu einem Klaviertrio im Bereich Jazz. Für die Band Fear O´She hat er die gesamte Musik minutiös auskomponiert, gibt aber seinen Musiker*innen Raum für Interpretation und Improvisation. Die Bandmitglieder sind alle erfahrene Improvisationsmusiker*innen: Elisabeth Coudoux am Cello, Jeremy Viner an Klarinette und Saxofon, Felix Hauptmann am Piano, Roger Kintopf am Bass und Tancréde D. Kummer am Schlagzeug. Die Musik der Gruppe war eine Form von Neuer Kammermusik, mit kleinen Melodiebögen an Cello, Klarinette/Saxofon und Klavier. Eine durchaus eingängige Musik, die immer wieder durch unerwarteten Ecken und Kanten bestach. Trotz der notierten Form, entwickelten die einzelnen Musiker*innen eigene Initiativen und folgten ihrer Intuition. So entstand ein sehr kohärenter Ensembleklang von seltsamer und ungewohnter Schönheit."
